As the temperature rises and the sun lingers a little longer, Cambridge is getting ready to come alive for a summer unlike any other. From live music and food festivals to soccer, historic celebrations, splash pads and museum visits, this summer’s energy will be unmatched. Whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through, here’s your guide to making the most of summer 2026 in Cambridge.
1. Cambridge Taste 2026
Cambridge Taste is back and tastier than ever! On Wednesday, June 17, sample dishes from top local chefs, sip craft drinks, and discover your new favorite spot at University Park. Pro tip: come hungry and bring your friends.
2. Paddle the Charles River
Rent a kayak or paddleboard through Paddle Boston and soak in Cambridge and Boston skyline views from the water. Get a front row seat to Boston’s Fourth of July fireworks from the water with their kayak rentals! Paddling the Charles is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon solo or with a group.
3. Charles River Boat Company
Step aboard the Charles River Boat Company’s Tiki Cruise for a tropical getaway right in the city. Featuring vibrant Tiki décor, a fun playlist, expertly crafted cocktails, and stunning skyline views, this cruise offers public and private options, perfect for any occasion or group size.
4. City Dance Party & Soccer Watch Party
Dance the night away at the Citywide Dance Party on Friday, June 26. With DJ-spun music, vibrant light shows, and thousands dancing in the streets, it’s one of the city’s most beloved free events. Prior to the Dance Party, residents and visitors can enjoy a free screening of the World Cup match between Norway and France!
5. DIY Brewery Tour
Grab a few friends and check out Cambridge’s local beer scene. Lamplighter Brewing Co. has two great locations—at Kendall Square and Cambridge Crossing. Remnant Brewing also opened a Satellite taproom in North Cambridge.
6. 11th Annual Cambridge Jazz Festival
Settle in on the lawn at Danehy Park for a weekend of live jazz, food trucks, and community vibes at the Cambridge Jazz Festival. This free two-day event runs July 25–26 and is a summer favorite for a reason.
7. Cool Off at a Splash Pad
When it gets hot, head to the splash pads at Danehy Park or North Point Park. They’re a fun and easy way to beat the heat, especially if you’ve got kids in tow.
8. Attend a Soccer Watch Party
Get in the spirit by attending a Cambridge United Soccer Watch Party! From June 13 through July 9, the City is hosting nine free, outdoor watch parties across Cambridge. Catch a match on the big screen and enjoy cultural programming, family-friendly activities, and eats from local restaurants and vendors–many representing the teams playing!
9. Treat Yourself to Ice Cream
Cool down with a sweet treat from local favorites. Hit Toscanini’s, swing by Honeycomb Creamery, and wrap up at New City Microcreamery, where liquid nitrogen gives each scoop an extra smooth texture. Try a new flavor at each spot!
10. 32nd Cambridge Carnival International
Mark your calendar for the 32nd Cambridge Carnival International on Sunday, September 13. This free event features vibrant costumes, Caribbean rhythms, international eats, and a grand costume parade that fills the streets with color and celebration.
This list is just a start! With Mass 250 celebrations this summer, plus soccer and sailing coming to Greater Boston, we’ve got more Cambridge events to add to your itinerary!
