April 22 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join The Cambridge Museum of History and Culture for an opening reception and fireside talk with anti-apartheid activist Caroline Hunter, the Office of Cambridge City Councilor E. Denise Simmons, and the US Postal Service.

Honoring 100 Years of Negro History Week is an exhibit in Cambridge, MA, celebrating a century of leaders, students, and innovators who dismantled systemic barriers in the city. Enter and learn about stories of persistence and community, tracing the lives of those who refused to be sidelined by the status quo.

The event will feature a fireside talk with anti-apartheid activist Caroline Hunter, known for her role in the Polaroid Revolutionary Workers Movement, which helped spark a global boycott protesting Polaroid’s involvement in apartheid South Africa. The evening will also include a Phillis Wheatley stamp unveiling with Esther P. Cooperband and a photography exhibit curated by civic designer Sophie G. Young.
