How cambridge does veterans day

From participating in the National Moment of Silence to remembering the Armistice with a citywide 21-bell salute, Cambridge honors veterans on November 11 and year-round. This year, Cambridge has a week’s worth of events where you can pay tribute to Veterans Day:

November 10

We Will Not Be Erased: A Veterans Day Concert Honoring the Service of All

Have you heard of Coro Allegro? This award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied chorus presents “We Will Not Be Erased.” Coro Allegro’s concert features classical pieces exploring the theme of service. It also includes a special anti-war work by American classical composer, Florence Price. Coro Allegro will be performing at Sanders Theatre.

November 10

Those Who Served at The Dance Complex

Dancers, veterans and active duty military join forces to bring you “Those Who Served.” Their performance combines dance and storytelling. It explores the complex issues facing servicemen and women as well as vets.

November 12

For Country Not For Glory: Veterans’ Monument Conservation

Take a walking tour and learn about the soldiers, sailors, military doctors, nurses and musicians who have served our country. Mount Auburn Cemetery includes more than forty monuments as part of their tour. Each individual memorialized will have their story told by the cemetery’s knowledgeable guides.

November 13

Veterans in the Workplace: Allyship & Appreciation

Network over free breakfast at Hubspot and then discuss how our local veteran community can be better supported year-round. The event’s guest speaker is Armand Hunter from Home Base, an organization that helps service members and veterans heal after experiencing trauma. A Q&A session will be led by Francisco Urena, Secretary of Veterans’ Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

November 11-15

Veterans Appreciation Week

The Third Annual Veterans Appreciation Week starts on November 11 at Cambridge Cemetery with a Veterans Day Observance ceremony. Activities that veterans can expect the rest of the week include acupuncture, guided meditation, fitness and nutrition tips, restorative therapy, art workshops, social gatherings, food and refreshments.
