The Head Of The Charles Regatta
Since 1965, the Head Of The Charles has grown into the world’s largest regatta. Athletes travel from across the United States and around the globe to race its winding course, drawing friends, families, and rowing fans to the riverbanks. Whether you’re following a favorite crew or watching your first race, the energy carries well beyond the water.

Find Your Place Along the River
Watch crews navigate the turn at Weeks Footbridge, follow the action near the Weld Exhibition, or head toward Eliot Bridge and the finish at Herter Park. Each stretch offers a different view of the competition and the crowds cheering it on.

Getting Around During Regatta Weekend
The riverfront gets busy during the regatta, and parking near the course is limited. Public transit and walking are convenient ways to reach viewing areas and explore Cambridge throughout the weekend.
By Public Transport
The Harvard and Central Square stations on the MBTA Red Line are within walking distance of parts of the course. Check MBTA schedules before you travel.
On Foot
Walking lets you see different stretches of the race and stop at Cambridge businesses along the way. Choose your viewing location in advance and allow extra time for crowds.
Road Closures and Event Updates
Parts of Memorial Drive may close during race weekend. Check the regatta’s official website for the latest transportation information.
