Science Spotlights: Black Holes and Canine Friends

Science Spotlights: Black Holes and Canine Friends

Meet up-and-coming scientists and learn about questions at the forefront of research today in this series of short talks on Saturday, May 11. This event is presented by Harvard Museum of Natural History and Harvard Museums of Science & Culture. Regular admission rates apply.

What exactly is a black hole? Do they come in different sizes? Are they dangerous? Scientists have many unanswered questions about these amazing astronomical objects. Join Harvard astronomer Ernesto Camacho Iniguez at 2pm as he addresses these and other big questions while sharing his curiosity for the universe and his research on the elusive “Goldilocks” black hole.

Having a strong friendship with their dog might help someone feel less stressed, but is the same true for their dog? Dogs benefit humans in many ways, but more is to be discovered on how dogs are influenced by humans. Join Dr. Olivia Reilly at 3pm for a discussion on how she studies both sides of child-dog friendships, and the specific ways to investigate how dogs feel about humans.
