Light Up the Lunar New Year of the Snake: Papercutting and Lantern Decorating Workshop

Join Harvard Art Museums in welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Snake with an inspiring Chinese papercutting workshop, offered at 10:30am and 1pm on Sunday, Jan. 26. Join multimedia artist Zhonghe (Elena) Li to learn about the traditional art of Chinese papercutting, exploring its rich symbolism, aesthetics, and philosophy. Li will guide attendees through the basic techniques of papercutting using scissors and will help participants craft unique designs to then use to decorate a paper lantern.

This hands-on session will take place in the Materials Lab on the Lower Level. The workshop fee is $15. Registration is required and space is limited. Registration opens Thursday, Jan. 16 at 10am. The workshop fee must be paid to confirm registration. The minimum age to participate is 14; previous experience is not required.
