Gallery Talk: Water Stories
Join curatorial fellow Janet O’Brien on Thursday, Aug. 22 for a tour of the installation "Water Stories" in the Islamic and South Asian art galleries. O’Brien will share insights into the diverse ways in which water is experienced in the pictorial world across different cultures. Through the 11 works on display, the visitor will journey to Istanbul, Türkiye; Bukhara, Uzbekistan; Tehran, Iran; Herat and Kabul, Afghanistan; and Rajasthan, India, from the 15th to the 21st century.
This gallery talk is part of Harvard Art Museums' New on View series, highlighting recent gallery installations and presenting new insights into recent acquisitions or old favorites. Please check in with museum staff at the Visitor Services desk in the Calderwood Courtyard to request to join the talk. Talks are limited to 18 people and are available on a first-come, first-served basis; registration is not required.
