Dance for World Community Festival
In partnership with Cambridge Arts and Massachusetts Peace Action, José Mateo Ballet Theatre presents the 14th Annual Dance for World Community Festival on Saturday, June 8. This free celebration in Harvard Square is open to the public and showcases dance as a powerful force to build community. Festivities will take place at José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s studios and along Massachusetts Avenue, between Bow Street and Putnam Avenue. The festival offers free dance performances and introductory classes in a variety of dance forms from over 60 dance groups plus over 20 social justice organizations and non-profits designed to raise awareness about dance and its potential to address social and environmental issues. Performances and classes will be held across outdoor stages along Mass Ave and inside JMBT studios. Advocacy organization partners will also be set up along Mass Ave in addition to local artists, businesses, and food vendors.
