Contextualizing Controversy: Displaying Truth in Museums Today
Harvard Art Museums host a panel discussion Sunday, April 16 on how museums are approaching the presentation of difficult subject matter responsibly while challenging dominant cultural narratives. The panel features Brenda Tindal, Harvard’s chief campus curator; Sarah Clunis, director of academic partnerships and curator of African collections at Harvard’s Peabody Museum; and Stephanie Hueon Tung, the Byrne Family Curator of Photography at Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. This program is organized by the Harvard Art Museums Student Board, as part of its "Museums in Focus" series, which explores the challenges facing museums in the 21st century that are of particular interest to young people today. Admission is free, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
