Heart Posture – Watercolor Art Exhibition

September 10 @ 6:00 pm - September 17 @ 6:00 pm

Kevin Lee, resident artist at the Cambridge Foundry, is completing Heart Posture, the capstone exhibition of his residency there. He is interested in the intention beneath an action, what he calls a person’s heart posture, and the show splits it in two: the transactional (doing something to get something back) and the non-transactional (doing something freely, for love, with nothing owed).

Each painting relocates an ordinary act into an unexpected place, a dancer performing alone in a forest, adults playing on a construction site, so the setting strips away the reward and leaves only the reason behind the action.

The works hang across two floors, transactional below and non-transactional above, and visitors climb physically from one to the other. The concept runs deep, but the paintings are made to be felt, not decoded.
