Spend the first weekend of November in Cambridge with our top five must-see events.
HISTORY
Fall Lecture Series at the Longfellow House | November 2
If you visited Cambridge, Massachusetts and didn’t learn something, did you really visit Cambridge? To make sure that you can answer that question with a resounding “Yes!,” we suggest attending a lecture at the Longfellow House on Thursday evening.
This week’s lecture is “Evangeline: A Modern Tale of Acadia.” You’ll see Mark Marchesi’s photographic work of Nova Scotia, which was inspired by the epic 1847 poem (by the same name, Evangeline) by Longfellow himself.
This event is free (woo!) but reservations are required.

Day of the Dead: Family Event | November 4
One of our favorite annual events of the year is back- the Day of the Dead Family event at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology.
Designed to welcome back the spirit of loved ones, the museum will be filled with live music, dancers, and beautiful decorations. Make a papel picado, decorate a sugar skull, and write a message to place upon the Dia de los Muertos altar.

MUSEUM
Girls Day | November 4
This Saturday is all about the girls at the MIT Museum. Join the museum for their biannual event that celebrates women in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. This year’s theme will bePhysics Matters.
Future scientists will draw secret messages and see the rainbow with diffraction glasses; visualize air-flow with light and see differences in air density caused by the heat of your hand and the air flow of your exhale; make batteries magically move while exploring magnetic fields; learn about orbits and small satellites through a hands-on activity.
