Charles Square Winter Farmers Market | January 13 and 15
Just because the temperatures have dropped, doesn’t mean that Cambridge farmers markets stop. After all, what could be more tempting than a warm, vegetable stew made with local veggies when it is 10 degrees outside? Luckily for Cambridge, The Charles Hotel has you covered this winter. Every Friday from noon-6 and Sunday from 10a-3p, expect to see local farmers, fresh produce, and specialty stores from the Boston-Cambridge area.

Glowberon – Johnny Blazes and Brian King | January 13
If you’re looking for a fun way to start off the long holiday weekend, look no further than a show at the Oberon in Harvard Square. This weekend, see a Glowberon performance featuring Johnny Blazes and Brian King. The hilarious duo blurs the identity between the intersections and spaces of their lives, using song and video.

Joyful Noise with the Harlem Gospel Choir | January 14
The Harlem Gospel Choir is back for their 30th year in Cambridge for what is bound be another exciting night of music! Saturday’s performance will celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Head over to the Sanders Theatre for their annual Joyful Noise Concert, where you are welcome to sit back, stand up and join in their message of peace and love.

HISTORY
Mount Auburn discusses the Underground Railroad | January 15
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, head over to Mount Auburn Cemetery for a free discussion about the Underground Railroad. The lecture will be led by a volunteer docent, who will conduct a review of Mount Auburn’s connections in the path that changed history.
If the weather permits, you’ll even visit the graves of key operators in the Boston Area. It’s not every day that you can actually visit the graves of people who changed America. Cambridge is a pretty special place if we do say so ourselves.

Cambridge’s 7th Annual MLK Day of Service | January 16
We don’t usually include Monday events in our weekend guide, but when since this Monday is such a great holiday, how could we not?
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Everybody can be great. Because anyone can serve…You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” Celebrate his legacy by loaning some of your time to Many Helping Hands 365 by heading over to City Hall for an afternoon of service.
All hands, young and old, are welcome to join and help make a difference this Martin Luther King Day. You will find activities ranging from creating Valentine’s Day cards for veterans and seniors, restocking food pantries and clothing exchanges, to putting together activity kits for children in emergency rooms. You’ll leave happy that you joined and spent your day off serving others.
