Gallery Talk: LaToya M. Hobbs: It’s Time

Chassidy A. Winestock, a Harvard graduate student, will consider the combination of figuration and abstraction in "Carving Out Time," a suite of life-size woodcuts by Baltimore-based artist LaToya M. Hobbs, in this talk on Wednesday, May 1. Winestock is the curator of the current exhibition "A Female Landscape and the Abstract Gesture" at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute. This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition "LaToya M. Hobbs: It’s Time," which presents the complete set of prints for the first time. Unfolding over five scenes, the prints depict one day in Hobbs’s life with her family. The series makes a powerful statement about her influences and self-fashioning as an artist.

Please check in with museum staff at the Visitor Services desk in Calderwood Courtyard to request to join the gallery talk. Talks are limited to 18 people and are available on a first-come, first-served basis; registration is not required.
