The First Commander Remembered: Washington’s Legacy in Cambridge
December 2 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
In recognition of the 250th anniversaries of the American Revolution and the founding of the United States, a coalition of Cambridge non-profits and government agencies will present Washington in American Memory, a seven-part speaker series offered both in person and online.
The program invites participants to debunk myths and explore how public memory of George Washington has evolved in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Featured speakers include J. L. Bell, author of The Road to Concord: How Four Stolen Cannon Ignited the Revolutionary War and proprietor of Boston1775.net, and Charles Sullivan, co-author of Building Old Cambridge: Architecture and Development and Executive Director of the Cambridge Historical Commission.
This series is supported by America’s National Parks, a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, and is presented in partnership with the National Park Service/Longfellow House–Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site, History Cambridge, the Cambridge Public Library, the Cambridge Historical Commission, and Cambridge MA250.
