After the Holiday Open House on December 12, visitors are invited to return on December 13 for free, 30-minute guided tours of the Longfellow House first floor, decorated for the holidays with seasonal items from the museum and archival collections. This year’s theme highlights special stories, including books and oral traditions, that have long brought families together during the holidays. Longfellow contributed to this tradition in 1864 with his poem “Christmas Bells,” written during the American Civil War as a call for “peace on Earth & goodwill to men.”
