June 7 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Poet and novelist Heba Al-Madhoun was an architect and educator, an avid collector of copperware, a passionate textiles artisan, and a loving wife and mother. On October 15, 2023, she was killed by an airstrike, alongside two of her four children, her sister and nephew. Join The Foundry in honoring Heba and her surviving family at a reading of her poems, newly translated into English by a Boston community initiative. The original Arabic poetry will be read by Heba’s husband, Jaser AbuMousa, and followed by a reading of the English translations and a dialogue about the poet’s writing and experience. The memorial will be accompanied by Palestinian oudist and singer Layan Hawila.
