Science Diplomacy in Crowded Orbits: The Global Challenge of a Sustainable Space Age
- This event has passed.
January 15 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Visitors are invited to an evening program examining the urgent need for a sustainable future in outer space as Earth’s orbit becomes increasingly crowded with satellites, spacecraft, and debris. The event will explore how ensuring the safe and responsible use of space requires interdisciplinary and international collaboration across engineering, policy, diplomacy, and the arts. Experts will discuss the roles that science, global cooperation, and creative practice play in shaping future space governance and fostering a secure and equitable orbital environment.
Following the program, attendees are welcome to visit Cosmograph: Speculative Fictions for the New Space Age, currently on view at the MIT Museum. This event is presented in partnership with the Science Diplomacy Grid.
