Originally constructed in 1871, this four-story building has long been an anchor of the Central Square landscape. Used as a commercial space in the 1870s, the property was renovated in 1928 into apartment units with first-floor retail space. Later, it was made into office spaces until 2020, when the building was renovated into a boutique hotel. It is considered to be a contributing building of the Central Square District of the National Register of Historic Places and is also part of an area known as the Confectioner’s Row, a stretch of Cambridge formerly home to factories of NECCO wafers, Nabisco cookies, Junior Mints, and Tootsie Rolls.
