Fall Bucket List

Fall foliage in Cambridge

New England boasts many fall activities, but Cambridge has the pick of the patch. We’re not here to suggest you carve another pumpkin—been there, done that! To have a spook-tacular gourd time, start checking off our bucket list items for fall in Cambridge.

1. Leaf Your Worries Behind at MIT’s Open Space Fall Fest

Celebrate autumn at MIT’s Open Space Fall Party. Bring family and friends to play lawn games and hands-on activities while enjoying face paint for all ages, sweet treats and live music by Fly By Brass Band.

2. Get Spooked on a Ghost Tour

‘Tis the season to find out what spirits may be haunting the Charles River! If you dare, take this 90-minute cruise, open for creatures 16 and older. You’ll learn, laugh and maybe even scream as you get to know the spirits residing in Cambridge.

3. Take in the Foliage on a Charles Riverboat Cruise

Escape the leaf-peeping traffic and head to the Charles River on foot! Relax on a 90-minute foliage riverboat tour with spectacular views of Boston and Cambridge. Foliage tours take place every Saturday and Sunday until November 10.

4. Taste Fall Favorites at Daily Farmers Markets

Between all the squares in Cambridge, there’s a farmers market every day except Wednesday this fall! Treat yourself to lunch or stock up on yummy, local treats. We’ve got our eyes on pumpkin bread and apple buns from Hi-Rise Bread Company. Those goodies and more can be found at the Charles River Farmers Market at the Charles Hotel and the Charles River Farmers Market at the Morse School.

5. Raise a Glass at Oktoberfest Pub Crawl

Looking for an adventure at Cambridge’s best bars and venues? On September 27, join travelers, locals and party lovers at the official Oktoberfest Pub Crawl for an evening of festive drinks, live music and authentic Oktoberfest cheer.
